CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Girls Rock Charlotte is revving up for a 2021 summer of awesomeness and allyship with their Teen Rock and Film Camps, but they need your help.
The nonprofit is asking for donations to help provide full and partial scholarships to those in need, food, and other supplies for campers and volunteers.
Girls Rock officials say a donation of $100 helps compensate the volunteer musicians, film makers, artists, and leaders who help these young artists find their voice and unleash their power as a musician.
A donation of $50 helps pay for supplies and technology used to mentor youth in live and virtual lessons, and a donation of $25 pays for a camper’s bag, that are given out to all of the 2021 campers.
Music and Volunteer Director Krystle Baller says this week’s Girls Rock Charlotte’s Teen Rock Camp is one of the biggest events of the year, and the nonprofits first in-person activity since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Baller says during the outdoor camp from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., girls and gender fluid youth form bands, write original songs, and finish out the week with a live concert.
